Here’s how to watch Paul Mescal win his first Emmy Award tonight

James Fenton

Paul Mescal has had a brilliant year but he has the chance to make it even better tonight by taking home a much-coveted Primetime Emmy Award.

Normal People star Paul Mescal is up for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie prize in a category that also features stellar names such as Jeremy Irons, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Pope and Mark Ruffalo.

Some stern competition indeed but Mescal is being hotly-tipped to beat them all, with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg writing that ‘I think voters will gravitate to this 24-year-old Irish breakout, whose passionate turn (opposite snubbed Daisy Edgar-Jones) enchanted many.’

Given that Paul has developed quite a connection with the Irish public this year, it would be a shame for all of us to miss his big moment if it arrives. You will be able to watch events unfold live on the Emmys website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel but be warned that you could be in for a late night.

The broadcast will begin at 1am Irish time so if you haven’t got much on tomorrow, it could be well worth staying up to see Mescal win big in the virtual ceremony. Everyone else will be checking their phones first thing in the morning to see how he get on and, if you’re reading this Paul, we’re all behind you. Best of luck!
