If You Always Have The Heating On At Home There’s Something You Should Know

Sarah

It’s absolutely baltic outside right now, which means that all we want to do when we get home is get straight into the fluffy jammies, light the fire, and get toasty warm.

Not gonna lie, I have the heating on ALL DAY in my house right now, and I bet I’m not the only one…

Turns out though, that you and I are energy wasting fools.

The logic behind having the heating always on (at low) is that the house stays at a consistent temperature

A lot of people are of the opinion that it will take additional energy to bring your home ‘up to temperature’ when the heating has been switched off, using more energy to heat it up again.

Why spend money on heating up your home to let it get cold and use a shit load of fuel to heat it back up again, eh?

Turns out though, that if you leave your heating on 24/7, you will end up using more fuel

Uswitch.com says that “heat loss will always occur due to the difference between the temperature outside your house and the temperature you are trying to maintain on the inside.”

While well-insulated homes can handle keeping all the heat in at a consistent low temp, older homes especially will just let it out due to poor insulation, so it’s better to just whack it on full blast for a little bit.

Ugh.
