I’m A Celeb could move to Scotland if Australian borders remain closed due to coronavirus

I'm A Celebrity

I’m A Celebrity get me out of Scotland?

Admit it, I’m A Celebrity is compulsive viewing. Granted, public interest generally tends to fizzle as the series goes on but come episode one, people are usually all in. Typically filmed out in Australia, show bosses have been looking for alternative solutions should that not be a possibility this year with reports suggesting that the action could be moved to Scotland to allow production to go ahead.

Flat out trying to come up with a workaround that would let the 2020 series go ahead, ITV bosses are apparently working on a so-called ‘reserve’ plan that would relocate filming to Scotland in the case that Australia doesn’t reopen its borders.

Determined for the series to go ahead if at all possible, a source told The Mirror that it’s seen as a “huge priority”.

“Everyone hopes to get back to Australia but over there they are struggling massively with flare-ups resulting in second lock-downs. It simply may not be possible because of safety.”

According to the source, a decision is expected on the matter sometime next month.

“A decision needs to be made next month – in the meantime, the team is looking at stately homes, castles, mansions in remote areas of Scotland and England to see if we could stage it here.”

One of ITV’s most popular shows, up to 10million people tuned in to watch I’m A Celebrity last year.
