‘I’m A Celeb’ Camp Could Be Evacuated As Bushfires Sweep Through Jungle

James Fenton

Bosses at Virgin Media reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! could be facing the prospect of evacuating contestants from the jungle as bushfires sweep through the surrounding area, The Mirror reports.

There are up to 200 wildfires raging around the Queensland region and producers are taking the advice of Australian fire services on board. The closest fire to the I’m A Celeb set is just 60km away and insiders say they are putting the safety of contestants, including Emily Atack and Harry Redknapp, above all else.

A source told the publication: “We speak to the fire services regularly and we are also monitoring the bushfires today in Oxenford and Wongawallan. There is no immediate danger but the safety and the welfare of our cast and crew is our number one concern, and so we will continue to watch how the fires develop. We are really hoping they don’t get any closer to camp.”

As the safety of the camp is monitored, the show is scheduled to air as usual tonight on Virgin Media One at 9pm.
