In Defence Of The Humble Selfie Stick

niallharbison

Everywhere I look these days I either see selfie sticks or people going mad about other people using selfie sticks. The trend that started in Asia and swept America has taken grip in Europe and people are up in arms about it…

People are angry…

Really angry…

I just want people to calm down a little. Yes they look a little stupid and yes they are probably the ultimate sign of vanity but are they really that bad? People aren’t using them to commit crimes- they are taking photos with them. I happen to think the photos people take with them are usually pretty cute and show people smiling and laughing at the stupidity of it. Most of the photos look way better than the awkward pose you get when you ask a stranger to take a snap and worry about them running off with your expensive phone.

Whats wrong with this? Cute if you ask us

They cost about 15 quid and nobody is forcing you to buy one. I’m not going to take one with me to the pub or a football match but if somebody leans in at a party and asks me and my friends to take a photo using one I’m going to put on a stupid face or a huge smile and we’ll probably end up with a great photo. No biggie. Chill out people.

In fairness there is always one tool using it all wrong!
