Here Are The Irish Release Dates For All The Biggest Movies Of Summer 2018

James Fenton

Summer is very much upon us and while the weather is fairly decent here in Ireland right now, there’s always a chance it can take a turn for the worse at any given moment.

What better way to spend an overcast day then checking out one of the many blockbusters to hit Irish cinemas over the summer.

We’ve compiled a list of movies which will have crowds flocking to the big screen over the next few months as well as the dates they will be released.

Which one are you most looking forward too? Let us know in the comments.

June 6 – Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

(Starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum)

In the latest instalment of the dino franchise, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the creatures from certain extinction. Expect the usual mix of nail-biting suspense, dodgy human characters and wry one-liners delivered with ease by Pratt.

Plus, Goldblum returns to the series for the first time since 1997’s The Lost World, which makes it a must-see.

June 15 – McQueen

(Starring: Alexander McQueen)

Director Ian Bonhote uses archive footage to tell the tragic story of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

June 22 – Ocean’s 8

(Starring: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna)

Danny Ocean’s estranged sister Debbie attempts to pull off the biggest heist of the century alongside her gang of female cohorts.

July 6 – Mary Shelley

(Starring: Ellie Fanning, Douglas Booth)

Romantic period drama exploring the relationship between the famous Frankenstein writer and poet Percy Shelley.

July 13 – Incredibles 2

(Starring: Holly Hunter, Craig. T Nelson)

The superhero family return a whole 14 years after the original animated adventure.

July 20 – Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!

(Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Piers Brosnan, Colin Firth)

In what is bound to be the feel-good flick of the summer, Sophie finds out more of her mother’s past as she seeks guidance on how to handle her own pregnancy.

July 26 – Mission Impossible – Fallout

(Starring: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg)

Ethan Hunt is back in the sixth edition of the high-tempo spy franchise.

August 3 – Ant-Man And The Wasp

(Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena)

It really is a summer of sequels isn’t it? Once again, someone returns, this time Paul Rudd as a former petty criminal who has at this stage realised the error of his ways. Oh, and he transforms into Ant-Man sometimes.

August 24 – Slenderman

(Starring: Joey King, Javier Botet)

The creepy character which started off as an Internet meme makes its terrifying big screen debut.
