RTE has shared a preview for this week’s episode of First Dates Ireland and if the clip is anything to go by, it’s going to be a powerful one.
In it, we meet a couple who, as the title of the show probably gives away, are on a first date when the man is asked if he had ever been married before. He answers by saying that he had been for eight years before his wife passed away of a heart attack in her sleep.
He goes on to tell the audience that he met his wife Peggy in the US in 2003 and they “managed to fall in love very quickly.” They had a son Padraig, who was six when his mother died and is now 12-years of age and a “cool cat” according to his father.
Viewers are also told how the couple “enjoyed life together but for some reason, it was cut short” and that “you can’t go back, you have to go forward.”
For someone who experienced such a level of grief, you can only admire the positive message this brave widower is spreading. You can get a glimpse of his outlook in the clip below…
