Have you noticed anything strange hovering in the skies recently?

A number of planes have reported a sighting of a ‘UFO’ off the Irish coast, sparking an investigation by the Irish Aviation Authority.

On the morning of November 9, the pilot of a British Airways flight off the coast of Kerry asked Shannon Air Traffic Control if there were any military exercises going on in the area – but there were none.

Air traffic control replied, “There is nothing showing on either primary or secondary [radar], to which the pilot responded, “OK. It was moving so fast.”

The pilot said an unidentified object flew past the left side of the plane “then rapidly veered to the north” and there was “a very bright light” that “disappeared at very high speed”.

Then the pilot of a Virgin Airlines flight chimed in to say he saw “multiple objects following the same sort of trajectory”.

Shannon air traffic control confirmed that “other aircraft in the air have also reported the same thing so we are going to have a look and see”.

The BA flight was off the coast of Kerry at the time of the sighting, while another two flights were off the southwest coast when they spotted the ‘UFO’.

The Irish Aviation authority told the Irish Examiner, “Following reports from a small number of aircraft on Friday, November 9, of unusual air activity, the IAA has filed a report.

“This report will be investigated under the normal confidential occurrence investigation process.”
