The Late Late Show is currently on a summer break but its weekly line-ups could have some extra star quality when it returns in the autumn.
Before its hiatus, viewers of The Late Late Show had gotten used to Ryan Tubridy chatting to his guests virtually with the likes of Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan and Robbie Keane among the stars logging in. Without a studio audience from March until its conclusion in May, the 2019/2020 Late Late series was undoubtedly the most unusual since its debut in 1962.
While the empty studios look like they will feature for a while yet, Tubridy will be hoping to secure some high-profile guests to entertain viewers at home. A source is quoted in the Irish Sun as saying: “Previously the Late Late had to wait until the big names came into Ireland but now we can talk to anyone, anytime. It’s the most famous long-running chat show in TV history and everybody wants to come on.”
The publication adds that bigger names than usual are expected to feature, with some of the most recognisable stars in the world now just the click of a Zoom call away.
So it’s not outside the realms of possibility that Ryan could be chewing the fat with Beyoncé and having a chinwag with Leonardo DiCaprio before the year is out. We can dream, right?
