Legendary Actor Daniel Day-Lewis Has Announced His Retirement

Farewell to a legend. 

Legendary actor Daniel Day-Lewis, who holds dual Irish and British citizenship, has announced that he is retiring at the age of 60. 

The star, who has wowed audiences with his iconic roles in movies such as My Left Foot, In The Name Of The Father, Gangs Of New York, There Will Be Blood and countless others, released a statement to Variety through a spokesperson which said:

“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. ”

Day-Lewis is the only performer to have won three Best Actor awards at the Oscars (My Left Foot, There Will Be Blood, Lincoln). 

He has won widespread praise and his method approach to his roles where he lives as his character throughout the whole filming process.
