Mattress Mick Wins An IFTA As Global Domination Continues

James Fenton

Ireland’s favourite bedroom furniture flogger Mattress Mick has added an Irish Film and Television Award to his glittering CV.

The Dubliner took home the best documentary award for his film Mattress Men, beating stiff competition in the form of Bobby Sands 66 Days, It’s Not Yet Dark, In Loco Parentic and Atlantic.

The film tells the tale of Mick’s struggles to get to the top of the mattress industry and if you haven’t caught it yet it’s well worth a watch. The trailer can be viewed below:

The 2017 IFTA Awards took place on Saturday night with comedy-drama A Date For Mad Mary taking home the prize for best film while Colm Meaney won the award for best actor in recognition of his role as the late Sinn Féin leader Martin McGuinness in The Journey.

Ruth Negga followed up her Oscar nomination with a best actress IFTA for her role in Loving.
