Pop group McFly have signed their first record deal in over 10 years, also promising to release new music later this year.

It’s a good day for McFly fans who have been revelling at the news that the group have signed their first record deal in over a decade. Asking fans if they missed them, the band shared a photo to their official Instagram page announcing the news.

Shooting to fame back in the early 2000s, they’re the youngest band to have an album debut, or be released, at number on the charts.  Started by Tom Fletcher, the group also starred in the 2006 movie Just My Luck alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine.

Rumours of a reunion first began swirling as far back as 2017, but tension within the group stopped plans from going ahead. Thankfully, all seems to be well once again though as each of the four original members have signed on for the comeback. Also announcing that they’ll be releasing new music later in the year, this comes seven years after the group released their last single.

Speaking of the big news, Tom took to Instagram to say:

“After some years where being a band again looked like it might not happen, I couldn’t be more excited to be putting pen to paper…I mean, thumb to screen, and officially signing up for new music.”

Delighted at the promise of both a reunion and new music, fans have claimed that this was just the news needed to turn this year around… the heart never lies as the band once so wisely sang.
