‘Beauty And The Beast’ Has Smashed Irish Box Office Records

Beauty And The Beast was one of the most anticipated movie releases of the year so far and the number appear to have justified the hype, in Ireland at least.

The live-action remake of the classic 1991 animation was released just last week and has already smashed Irish box office records. 

Over the weekend, the Disney flick which stars Emma Watson as the imprisoned heroine Belle, grossed €2.2m, the largest three-day opening weekend in Irish box office history. 

Disney has even taken to Twitter to thank Irish audiences for contributing to the feat:

Reviews of the film have been pretty decent and it currently holds a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so it appears it’s worth checking out. Particularly if this miserable weather sticks around for a while.
