Netflix Acquires Rights To ‘The Irishman’ And The Cast Is Unreal

James Fenton

If you were to put together a dream cast for a crime flick chances are most people would have Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel in there. Throw in director Martin Scorsese in the mix and we have a bonafide classic on our hands.

This dream has become a reality as Netflix has acquired the rights to The Irishman, a mob flick which is still in pre-production.

Based on the non-fiction book I Hear You Paint Houses, the movie will tell the tale of Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran (De Niro), a mob hitman from Philadelphia who is of Irish descent.

The film is set to be released on Netflix in 2019 so there’s still a bit of a wait. We’ve got a slight feeling that it will be worth it.
