Slane Fans Were Left Sitting In A Car Park For Three Hours Last Night

mariemadden

As we reported last night, yesterday’s grim weather seems to have prompted a lot of fans to drive to Slane Castle for this year’s Guns N’Roses gig rather than take public transport.

This caused major traffic chaos on the way to the concert, with many abandoning their cars outside Navan in a bid to make it to the site on time.

The verdict this morning is that it was definitely worth the wait, as Guns N’Roses delivered an incredible performance to 80,000 music fans until 11pm last night.

Unfortunately, leaving Slane seemed to present as many problems as getting there – with frustrated gig-goers taking to Twitter to reveal that they were stuck in the car park until 2.30am.

It’s understood that the tailbacks mainly affected those who were based in the Red Car Park, with motorists using the #redcarpark to share their stories.

A spokesperson for MCD confirmed that traffic management around the site was managed by An Garda Siochana, with 400 members and 1,200 additional security and steward staff on duty, and attributed the delays to the nature of the venue and the inclement weather.
