These Noughties Rockers Have Announced Three Irish Gigs

James Fenton

We reckon most of us are old enough to remember when The Darkness ruled the glam metal world from 2000 to 2006.

The ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ rockers amassed a huge following and wowed the crowd at the Oxegen festival (remember that?) in 2004.

The band, which reformed in 2011 after a five-year hiatus, has now announced that it will play three Irish gigs in October of this year.

Along with a gig at Dublin’s Academy on Saturday October 14, the guys will also play at Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick on Friday October 13 as well as The Limelight in Belfast on Sunday October 15.

During its heyday, the group amassed almost as many detractors as they did admirers so it will be interesting to see how the gigs go. If nothing else they should be good clean glam rock fun.
