Normal People has received three nominations for the 2020 TV Choice Awards and it will come as no surprise that the show’s two main stars are among them.

Since first airing back in April, Normal People has captivated audiences worldwide, in no small part thanks to the wonderful performances of Paul Mescal as Connell and Daisy Edgar-Jones as Marianne. Well, both have now been rewarded with nominations for the 2o2o TV Choice Awards, with Mescal up for Best Actor and Edgar-Jones nominated for Best Actress.

Mescal will face competition from TV veteransMartin Clunes (Doc Martin) Stephen McGann (Call The Midwife) David Tennant (Deadwater Fell), and he’ll no doubt be backing Daisy when she comes up against Brenda Blethyn (Vera) Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Michelle Keegan (Our Girl).

Meanwhile, Normal People itself has been nominated in the category of Best New Drama alongside Gangs of London, Gentleman Jack and White House Farm.

These are the first of numerous prizes the Normal People team are hoping to be up for over the coming months. With Emmy voting now underway, there are whispers that the show could be nominated in a few categories at the prestigious ceremony but only time will tell if Mescal and Daisy-Jones will be donning their gladrags Stateside.

The TV Choice Awards are voted for by viewers and if you want to see Normal People come out on top, you can vote here.
