Netflix has its fair share of thought-provoking documentaries, but we noticed this week that one of the freakiest ones we’ve ever, ever seen has recently been added.
By far one of the most intriguing documentaries in recent years, The Imposter is a twisted tale of deceit and shocks at every corner.
It tells the true and disturbing tale of the 1997 case of the French con-man Frédéric Bourdin, who impersonated Nicholas Barclay, a Texas boy who disappeared at the age of 13 in 1994.
Despite having completely different hair colour, speaking with a French accent, and being seven years older than the missing boy, Frederic managed to trick the boy’s family and police officials into believing he was Nicholas.
If you’re thinking “How could these people fall for such a trick?”, watch this creepy flick and you’ll realise just how easy you too, could fall for something similar.
You’ll be telling everyone you know about this.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, The Imposter ain’t actually available on Irish Netflix just yet… yet. However, if you have a VPN unblocker – you should be able to get it, or just try stream it on the sly… which we don’t condone… obvs.
