The day after Stephen’s Day – AKA the day you actually get to sit down and have a good root through your pressies.
The visits are over, there’s plenty of leftovers in the fridge, and you haven’t a BAR of heading out.
Well one lad who was getting acquainted with his brand new Amazon tablet spotted something quite jarring when he clicked into Maps.
He shared a photo of what popped up when he clicked on Co Kilkenny, and the description is, well, quite dated.
We’re talking 1937 dated.
Yep – Kilkenny is described as being part of the ‘Irish Free State.’
Of course, Ireland hasn’t been referred to as the Irish Free State since 1937 when De Valera drafted a new constitution and the state was named Ireland.
Commenters have been speculating as to how this massive oversight happened.
One Redditor wrote: ‘Amazon just have a thing against Ireland’ while another added ‘Maybe amazon know something we don’t?’
Someone at Amazon really needs a history refresher.
