Ahead of tomorrow’s referendum, REPEAL Project has released a video for the 1995 Saw Doctors song Everyday.
The tune tells the story of a woman taking the boat to England for an abortion and ‘brings the listener on the journey with her, drawing on the loneliness she feels’. The band’s Davy Carton explained that the song was ‘written from a human point of view, no medical facts or anything like that, just heartbreak for the person it’s happening too.’
Anna Cosgrave, creator of the REPEAL Project jumpers pointed out that ‘this is the only song written about the women who travel every day from Ireland to access abortion services abroad and this collaboration with the Saw Doctors brings these women’s stories to life. On May 25 I hope voters will think of all the women and girls who need their “Yes”‘.
