RTÉ Are Showing This Gripping Oscar-Winning Thriller Tonight

James Fenton

While none of us are huge fans of the current weather, sometimes you can’t beat a cosy night in with the pitter-patter of rain gently tapping against the window.

Along with popcorn and a nice cup of hot chocolate, the perfect rainy night can only be completed by some good old-fashioned quality TV, which is exactly what RTÉ are providing tonight.

The national broadcaster will be showing 2013 Best-Picture Oscar winner Argo and if you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth a couple of hours of your time.

The historical drama tells the story of how, on November 4 1979, Iranian activists stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran taking 66 American hostages.

What unfolds is a gripping thriller which will leave you anxiously holding onto the popcorn bowl.

Ben Affleck stars and directs while Alan Arkin won the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role. Bryan Cranston and John Goodman also add to an all-star cast.

Argo airs on RTÉ 1 tonight at 9.35pm.
