Dancing With The Stars will not be taking place in 2021, RTE has confirmed this evening.

The national broadcaster has stated that they are ‘so sorry to announce that Dancing With The Stars won’t go ahead in 2021 due to Covid-19’ before adding ‘we hope to be back in 2022.’

The Sunday night celebrity dancing show has proven to be a huge hit with viewers since it debuted in January 2017. Several famous faces from the worlds of Irish entertainment, sport and music have taken part including Des Cahill, Marty Morrissey, Anna Geary and Johnny Ward.

The list of winners reads Kerry GAA star Aidan O’Mahony (2017), singer Jake Carter (2018), and radio presenters Mairéad Ronan (2019) and Lottie Ryan (2020).

This year’s final took place on March 15 in Ardmore Studios in Co. Wicklow without a studio audience just as coronavirus restrictions were starting to be introduced.

Dancing With The Stars is presented by Nicky Byrne and Jennifer Zamparelli and the judging panel consists of Julian Benson, Lorainne Barry and Brian Redmond.
