Following the news that Marian Finucane passed away yesterday, RTÉ has confirmed that tonight’s Late Late Show will feature a segment dedicated to the legendary broadcaster.
At around 6pm yesterday, the national broadcaster confirmed that the Dublin-born journalist had died suddenly at the age of 69. As is usually the case on Thursdays, audiences had already been told about this week’s episode of the chat show which is set to feature interviews with former President Mary McAleese, Room To Improve star Dermot Bannon and actress Miriam Margoyles among others.
However, RTÉ has this afternoon issued an update via Twitter which says ‘Due to the sudden passing of Marian Finucane, tonight’s Late Late will now feature a segment paying tribute to Marian & her contribution to Irish broadcasting & Irish society, with interviews with a number of her contemporaries and friends.’

The tribute to Marian Finucane comes just two months after a Late Late episode was dedicated to her former colleague Gay Byrne, who passed away at the beginning of November.
Tonight’s edition is sure to be a fitting tribute to Marian Finucane and gets underway on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.
