It was one of, if not the most, high profile case that the world has ever seen.

RTÉ has confirmed that a documentary looking back at the nine-week trial of Ireland and Ulster rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding, along with Blane McIlroy and Rory Harrison at Belfast Crown Court will air this week.

Titled “Acquitted: The Rugby Rape Trial”, the 35 minute programme will be on our screens on Thursday night, 19 July.

Jackson was found not guilty of rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old student in June 2016. Olding was also found not guilty of rape.

The pair had always denied raping the now 21-year-old during a party in Jackson’s home stating from the start that any sexual contact was fully consensual.

Blane McIlroy was cleared of exposure and Rory Harrison was cleared of withholding information and perverting the course of public justice.

The advertisement for the documentary aired on RTÉ on Saturday night but it has not been posted on social media yet.

It starts on Thursday on RTE One at 10:15.
