Six of the best movies on TV this Sunday night

James Fenton

It’s the sixth last Sunday before Christmas so you may as well make yourself a mulled wine, put your festive PJs on and get stuck into some movies on TV.

Tonight we’ve got Liam Neeson in a famous action role, some drama with Denzel and plenty of comedy in the mix too. Here’s the very best of the movies on TV this Sunday night….

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian – 6.55pm – E4

The evening kicks off in light-hearted fashion with this comedy sequel starring Ben Stiller, Amy Adams and Owen Wilson.

Taken – 9pm – FilmFour

Has there been a more iconic phone conversation in movie history? There has not.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – 9pm – E4

Set 10 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this sci-fi/action was very well-received by critics.

Beverly Hills Cop II – 9pm – Comedy Central

Some timeless 1980s comedy here starring a 26 (!) year-old Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley.

Flight – 10pm – Sky One

A 2012 drama for which Denzel Washington was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar.

Eurotrip – 11pm – Comedy Central Extra

One of countless ‘sex comedies’ that came out around the turn of the millennium, it’ll keep you lightly entertained if you’re still flicking around the channels at 11pm.
