We’ve barely said goodbye to the summer and already we’re talking about festival headliners for 2019.
The biggest concert of them all returns after a one year hiatus and if this morning’s rumours are anything to go by then Slane 2019 is set to be huge.
In recent months, there were a few rumblings about the likes of Coldplay, Radiohead and Muse taking to Lord Mountcharles’ stage but The Sun is now reporting that metal legends Metallica will headline the show.
The quartet will be heading on a European tour between May and August and a source told the publication that “heavy rock has always been the biggest draw for Slane. Metallica are the perfect choice for 2019 as they go right back to the heavy rock of Thin Lizzy who headlined the very first Slane in 1981.”
If Metallica are confirmed it’s sure to draw a huge crowd of 80s and 90s metalheads as well as some younger fans who may not have had the opportunity to see them before. Imagine the likes of Nothing Else Matters or Enter Sandman ringing around the banks of the Boyne?
