Storm warnings do a certain something to Irish people that triggers some sort of strange survival instinct that gives us subliminal flashbacks to the famine when we were all starving. 

How do we prepare? By making sure there’s enough eggs, milk and – the holy grail of any storm-shoppers trolley – bread to feed not only your family but the entire town’s. 

Don’t believe us? Have a look at these empty shelves in supermarkets around the country as Irish people are prepping for Storm Emma in the only we way know… Food, food and more food. 

A Status Orange weather warning is currently in effect for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath while temperatures are expected to drop as low as minus 5 degrees before Storm Emma hits in full swing later this week.

We didn’t even get a chance to nip down to the supermarket… Here’s hoping the neighbours have a nice batch loaf.
