Here’s What The Exciting New Facebook Feature Does

James Fenton

Those of you who have downloaded the Facebook app on your mobiles may have noticed a new feature over the past few days.

Taking the form of a miniature rocket, it is located right next to the icon which displays your friend requests.

So what does it do? According to Mashable, it’s similar to Instagram’s ‘explore’ option in that users can see posts that are relevant to their interests regardless of whether they have liked a particular page or not.

All the social snoopers out there will also be glad to know that it allows you to view posts from people you aren’t friends with on Facebook.

A Facebook spokesperson told WIRED

“We are testing a complementary feed of popular articles, videos, and photos, customized for each person based on content that might be interesting to them. We’ve heard from people that they want an easy way to explore new content they haven’t connected with yet.”

Happy scrolling, guys.
