Introducing Spot The Four Legged Robot


Last year Google purchased Boston Dynamics who specialise in robotics. They've been working away on Spot, the little brother of project BigDog. Spot is a four legged robot that has been designed for indoor and outdoor terrains. He can even survive a nasty kick in the side without falling over, recovering pretty much identical to a real dog. The advanced robot weighs just 160 lbs and is electrically and hydraulically operated.


Boston Dynamics released this video yesterday which shows Spot walking, climbing stairs, recovering from a kick to the side and actually running with such ease in comparison to the movements of Honda's Asimo. This advancement in robotics being shared openly makes you think what global departments of defence have hidden up their sleeves...
