Lexus Unveil Video Of Their New Hoverboard

It isn’t a cruel April Fools’ prank this time as Lexus have started sharing video and photos of their new hoverboard. They’ve been working on it for close to 2 years now and the results are pretty spectacular.

The hoverboard features two “cryostats,” where superconducting material is kept at -197 degrees through immersion in liquid nitrogen. There are also super powerful magnets within the board that work alongside the track.

Dr. Oliver de Haas CEO, says, “The magnetic field from the track is effectively ‘frozen’ into the superconductors in the board, maintaining the distance between the board and the track—essentially keeping the board hovering. This force is strong enough to allow the rider to stand and even jump on the board.”
