These Popular Laptops Are Being Recalled Over Fire Safety Concerns

Alana Laverty

HP have been recalling certain laptop batteries since June 2016 but are now upping their recall search as the problem is worse than they originally thought.

The laptops in question are the HP Compaq, HP ProBook, HP ENVY, Compaq Presario or HP Pavilion laptop purchased between March 2013 and October 2016.

According to PCAdvisor.co.uk, HP laptop owners who have already had their batteries checked may have to get them rechecked over fire-safety concerns.

HP will provide free replacement batteries for each verified affected battery.

Laptop owners should cease use of affected batteries immediately. They may continue to use their notebook computer without the battery installed, by connecting the notebook to external power.

To figure out if your battery is affected you’ll need to download the HP Battery Program Validation Utility.
