The 12 best movies on TV tonight

The Crimbo Limbo is in full swing and life simply consists of pyjamas, chocolate and endless movies. If you’ve already exhausted everything available to stream (I definitely have), then you’ll be glad to hear that there are some great movies on TV tonight.

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – RTÉ2 – 6.05pm

Indiana Jones teams up with a rebellious teenager who draws him into an Amazon jungle adventure in the search for a mysterious artefact of untold power. Their quest is interrupted by Soviet agents who want the artefact for more sinister purposes.

Spectre – RTÉ2 – 9.15pm

With the stellar cast of Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes, Spectre sees Bond embarking on a rogue globetrotting journey after receiving a cryptic message that sets him on the trail of a secretive criminal network.

In 1930s Ireland, political activist Jimmy Gralton (Barry Ward) faces deportation for running a community hall for the arts.

Jason Bourne – E4 – 9pm

Former government operative Jason Bourne is in hiding after uncovering a sinister CIA operation. He finds himself being hunted down after a former CIA operative goes rogue when he acquires top-secret information.

Wonder Woman – UTV – 7.30pm

Inspired by the legendary DC Comics character, an Amazonian warrior steps into the world during WW1 after an American airman crash lands on her isolated island home.

Palaeontologist Dr Alan Grant is drawn to a dinosaur-infested island by a divorced couple who offer to fund his research, but their hidden motive is to find their missing son.

An FBI agent goes undercover as a beauty pageant contestant and discovers that the event is the target of a bomb threat.

Fast & Furious 7 – ITV2 – 10.10pm

Dom, Brian and the rest of the team return home to live normal lives again after defeating Owen Shaw and his crew and securing amnesty for their past crimes. Shaw’s older brother Deckard, however, vows to avenge him.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army – ITV4 – 9pm

In this action fantasy flick starring Ron Perlman, the demon superhero leads a team in the fight against renegade elf Prince Nuada whose mission it is to reawaken a robot army.

Two salesmen crash their truck and find themselves in trouble with the law. So they have to do community service in the form of looking after troubled kids.

Shanghai Noon – Comedy Central – 7pm

Chon Wang travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. In a clash of cultures, he teams up with a bumbling outlaw to complete his mission.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! – Comedy Central – 9pm

An inept police detective uncovers a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Los Angeles. After being fired, he must work undercover to stop the attack.
