Some enjoyed the ending of Wednesday evening’s RTÉ News report more than others.
Closing out the Six One news on Halloween, the production team at RTÉ decided to get a bit creative with their graphics.
After signing off their report, presenters Eileen Whelan and Ray Kennedy suddenly disappeared when a spooky backdrop appeared behind them.
The next image on viewers’ screens was the sight of several bats flying towards the camera in what was a light-hearted way to wish everyone a happy Halloween.
Most saw the funny side of it and commended the state broadcaster for their creativity while there were some critics of the report.

Younger viewers got a great kick out of it.

Some suggested that the news was no place for such fun.
Not funny. Very unprofessional on public broadcast news.

But the general consensus was that it was the perfect way to put trick-or-treaters in the Halloween mood.
I have to say that was brilliant 👏👏
