If you’ve been glued to The Great British Bake Off you may not want to read ahead – because the winner of the show was announced accidentally online this morning.
The finale of this year’s series will air tonight on Channel 4 but judge Prue Leith made a huge mistake and appears to have announced the winner in a tweet which has since been deleted.
Leith replaced Mary Berry when the show switched to Channel 4 and said that she wanted all three finalists to win before she said “bravo” to a certain someone.
The trained chef is currently in Bhutan and due to the time zone difference posted the tweet well ahead of tonight’s show. Oops.
The final three contestants include Steven Carter-Bailey, Sophie Faldo or Kate Lyon who will be seen battling it out tonight on the pre-recorded show.
And the winner according to Leith’s tweet is….

Prue has since taken to Twitter to apologise to fans for the error:
I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning, I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error #GBBO.
