It’s fair to say that 2020 won’t be remembered for too many positive things at least the annus horribilis has managed to throw up some decent tunes.
Now that we’ve reached the midway point of the year (really?), the Official Irish Charts have treated us to a rundown of the 50 biggest songs of 2020 so far, in terms of chart sales combined with both downloads and streaming.
Having taken on a life of it own on TikTok in recent months, it will probably come as no surprise that Blinding Lights by The Weeknd tops the pile and if you’re somehow still unfamiliar with this catchy number, you can check it out below…
Following that, Roses by Saint Jhn comes in at number two, ahead of Don’t Start Now (Dua Lipa), Dance Monkey (Tones & I) and Before You Go (Lewis Capaldi).
The highest Irish entry is Dermot Kennedy at number 17 with Outnumbered and the Dubliner also appears at number 27 with Power Over Me.
