These are the eight best movies on TV tonight

This week has been one hell of a week so consider this your cue to throw on a pizza, crack open a bottle of wine and settle in for an evening of pure relaxation.

Here’s what movies are on TV tonight:

Shrek 2 – RTÉ One – 6:35pm 

Just back from their honeymoon, newlyweds Shrek and Fiona set out for the Kingdom of Far Far Away for a wedding celebration thrown by Fiona’s parents – neither of whom is all that impressed with their daughter’s choice of husband.

Tomb Raider – ITV2 – 6:45pm 

Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft, daughter of the famous missing adventurer Richard Croft. Convinced that he’s still alive, she sets out on a trail of clues left by her father to find him.

Non-Stop – FilmFour – 6:50pm 

Liam Neeson plays an air marshal on the hunt for a mystery killer aboard a transatlantic flight from New York to London. Threatening to kill one passenger every 20 minutes unless a ransom is paid, Neeson enlists the help of Jen Summers (Julienne Moore) to track down the unidentified culprit.

Bean – Comedy Central – 7:05pm

Rowan Atkinson reprises his role as Mr Beaan – arguably his most well-recognised character to date. Employed as a security guard for a British art gallery, he is sent to LA to retrieve a famous painting. Obviously, things don’t go as planned and Bean is mistaken for a renowned art professor – landing himself in quite the pickle.

The Simpsons Movie – E4 – 7:15pm 

A movie following the antics of TV’s most famous cartoon family, Homer lands himself and the gang in hot water after it’s revealed that he is responsible for polluting the town’s water supply. Springfield is encased in a glass dome and Homer must redeem himself to both his family are the wider Springfield population.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – Sky One – 8pm

The second film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, this one sees Frodo and Sam continue on their quest to destroy the One Ring, edging closer to Mordor with Gollum’s help. Meanwhile, their allies prepare for battle against Saruman who has declared war on a neighbouring kingdom.

Atomic Blonde – Channell 4 – 9:10pm  

An action thriller film based on the novel The Coldest City, Atomic Blonde stars Charlize Theron as an undercover MI6 agent sent to Berlin during the Cold War. Investigating the murder of a fellow agent, she must also recover a missing list of double agents due to be smuggled into the West on the eve of the wall’s fall.

Coach Carter – TG4 – 9:35pm 

Based on the true story of the Richmond High School basketball coach, Samuel L Jackson stars as Coach Ken Carter. Making headlines for suspending his team’s undefeated run over bad grades – leading to an onslaught of backlash from angry parents, teachers and students.
