These are the five best movies on TV for your Thursday night in

Rory Cashin

Ryan Reynolds, James McAvoy, Sandra Bullock, Mrs. Brown… they’re all on the TV tonight!

Thursday night is upon us, the buffer to the weekend, so obviously we’re fully in support of using that time to watch a decent movie, and thankfully the TV Programming People have given us a healthy selection to choose from.

A Good Day to Die Hard – ITV4 – 9pm

The fifth (and worst) of the Die Hard movies sees John McClane heading to Russia to find his secret agent son, and getting caught up in yet another bad guy problem. Features a very decent car chase through Moscow, so it is almost worth watching it for that alone.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage – FilmFour – 9pm

After he didn’t return for the first sequel (and was replaced by Ice Cube), Vin Diesel does indeed return as the extreme-sports-loving secret agent, using his skateboarding abilities to defeat the bad guys.

The Proposal – Comedy Central – 9pm

Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock star in this winning rom-com about a suffering assistant (Reynolds) forced into marrying his boss (Bullock) so she doesn’t get deported back to Canada, but they actually end up falling in love along the way through their fake relationship.

Split – FilmFour – 11.05pm

James McAvoy stars in this brilliant thriller about a young girl (Anya Taylor Joy) who is kidnapped by a man suffering from multiple personality disorder (McAvoy), who believes one of his personalities is actually a super-powered monster.

Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie – BBC One – 11.30pm

You either like Mrs. Brown’s Boys, or you don’t, which will dictate whether you’ll watch this movie or not.
