Comedies, action, and biblical dramas are among the best movies on TV this evening.
We’ll be honest, tonight’s choices aren’t the best we’ve seen on the telly.
Thankfully, there are at least two of them that we can whole-heartedly recommend, and the rest are more along the lines of “something to have on the background while you make dinner or do a jigsaw”.
Risen – FilmFour – 6.50pm
Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy!) star in this biblical drama dealing with a group of men who have been tasked with finding the missing body of Jesus Christ, after he rose from the dead.
The Inbetweeners 2 – E4 – 9pm
Jay, Will, Simon and Neil reunite for another holiday, this time taking them all the way to Australia. If you’ve seen the show (or the first movie), then you’ll know what to expect from this comedy.
War for the Planet of the Apes – FilmFour – 9pm
The trilogy closer of the recent reboot finds humanity on its last legs after the Simian Flu proves to be more lethal than originally thought. Woody Harrelson plays the army leader who has decided to fight back in order to save our species, even if it means turning on his fellow man.
Cop Land – ITV4 – 9pm
A very good drama starring Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Harvey Keitel and more, dealing with a shady group of crooked cops and the one good cop (that’d be Stallone) in the middle of it all.
Departure – FilmFour – 11.45pm
A mother and son head to the South of France together to pack up their holiday home, but when an attractive stranger arrives, it forces them both to confront some truths about themselves and their own family relationship.
