The best movies on TV for your Thursday night in.
Just one more sleep until The Late Late Toy Show, so until then, why not check out one of the best movies on TV tonight.
X-Men: Days of Future Past – FilmFour – 6.25pm
One of the better X-Men movies, focusing on Wolverine as he travels from a post-apocalyptic future to 1970s Washington in order to stop a series of events that sets the upcoming apocalypse in motion.
Brief Encounter – BBC Four – 8.30pm
Widely regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made, David Lean’s 1945 romantic epic sees a man and woman beginning a relationship, despite both already being married to other people, set against the impending backdrop of WWII.
Taken 3 – FilmFour – 9pm
The third Taken movie doesn’t really have anyone being “taken”, but instead kind of turns into the plot for The Fugitive, with Liam Neeson going on run after he is blamed for the murder of his wife.
Zodiac – TCM – 9pm
David Fincher’s magnificent thriller looks into the hunt for the most notoriously “still at large” serial killer in history, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo as three strangers who happen upon the killer’s potential identity.
The Bourne Ultimatum – ITV4 – 9pm
The third (and arguably best) in the Bourne trilogy, before the next two movies arrived and kind of ruined everything. Still though, this one is tense and brilliant, ending with a jaw-dropping car chase through the packed streets of Manhattan.
Double Jeopardy – FilmFour – 11.15pm
A man fakes his murder, which results in his wife (Ashley Judd) spending several years in jail, and being separated from her young son. When she is released, she discovers the truth, and decides to get revenge, with Tommy Lee Jones’ hot on her trail.
Sisters – FilmFour – 1.20am
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two sisters who decide to have the one big house party in their parent’s home, that they never got to have back when they were teenagers.
