These are the six best movies on TV for your Monday night in

Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lawrence, The Rock, Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham… they’re all on your TV tonight.

Monday has returned, and with it comes a night of some very decent movies to enjoy.

Kick your week off properly with one or more of these this evening.

Ghostbusters – FilmFour – 6.20pm

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Lesley Jones star in this reboot/sequel to the legendary comedy. Is it anywhere near as good as that classic? No. Is it anywhere near as bad as you’ve heard? Also no.

Safe – Sky One – 9pm

Jason Statham stars in this action-thriller involving a cage fighter who finds himself protecting a 12-year-old maths genius from several dangerous gangs when they discover she holds a valuable code.

Welcome To The Jungle – Comedy Central – 9pm

The Rock and Seann Williams Scott (aka Stifler from American Pie) star in this action-comedy about a bounty hunter and his target falling foul to angry local criminals deep in the Amazon jungle.

Red Sparrow – FilmFour – 9pm

Jennifer Lawrence stars in this gritty spy thriller, playing a trainee in a school for Russian double-agents, who may or may not actually plan on defecting to America.

Angels & Demons – TG4 – 9.30pm

Tom Hanks returns as the expert puzzle solver in this sequel to The Da Vinci Code, this time caught up in a plot that goes all the way to the top of the Catholic Church, and may result in an attack on The Vatican itself.

Rush Hour 2 – ITV4 – 10.30pm

The hit sequel to the action-comedy buddy movies sees Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan return to solve another crime, with more explosions, stunts, and culture-clashing jokes.
