These are the six best movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Matt Damon. Saoirse Ronan. Jason Statham. Cameron Diaz. They’re all on the TV tonight!

The bad weather is on the way (or already here, depending on when you read this), so your best plan of action is to stay in, get the comfy, surround yourself with snacks, and get to watching one of these.

The Mechanic – Sky One – 9pm

Jason Statham is the ruthless assassin who will kill literally anyone, as long as he is paid. When his best friend is killed, he decides to do a few murders for free out of revenge.

The Bourne Supremacy – ITV4 – 9pm

The superior sequel sees Matt Damon’s slightly-less-amnesiac assassin get revenge on the shady government group hunting him after an attempt to take him out results in the death of the woman he loves.

The Other Woman – FilmFour – 9pm

Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton all discover that they’re in a relationship with (and being cheated on by) the same man, Game Of Thrones’ Jamie Lannister. Instead of getting mad, they team up and decide to get even. But, also, they get mad.

Hanna – TG4 – 9.30pm

Saoirse Ronan is the young girl who has been trained-from-birth to be a ruthless killer by her operative-in-hiding father Eric Bana. But now the training is done, and she’s been assigned her first mission, which will take her across all of Europe to complete.

Final Destination – ITV4 – 11.15pm

When a teenager has a premonition that the plane he is on is about to explode, he gets off with a group of his friends, only for the plane to actually explode. Having cheated death, they discover that the grim reaper is coming back around for a second go to take them all out.

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence – FilmFour – 1.50am

As you can probably tell from the title, this is an odd film, but absolutely worth staying up for (or, more likely, setting to record). A Swedish comedy about two salesmen who observe their fellow humans drifting through lives of desperation and loneliness… yes, that doesn’t sound very funny. But trust us, it is very funny. But also, yes, very weird.
