Six great movies to help distract from what is supposed to be the coldest night of the winter so far.
Yep, Met Éireann have stated that tonight will be the coldest night of the winter so far, so you’d be wise to stay in on the couch, wrap up warm, and watch one or more of these:
From Russia With Love – ITV4 – 8pm
The late, great Sean Connery’s second outing as Bond is considered to be one of the all time great 007 movies, pitching him against SPECTRE as they both hunt down a device capable of causing global devastation.
Coming To America – Comedy Central – 9pm
Ahead of the release of the sequel on Prime Video this March, you should definitely check out this comedy classic with Eddie Murphy as a rich prince in Africa, travelling to America to get a taste of a different life.
Logan – FilmFour – 9pm
Out of all of the X-Men movies and all of the spin-offs that have come out of the franchise, this is probably the very best one, and definitely the only one that had conversations of Oscars around it. Jackman’s (apparently) last turn in the role, it is a brilliant, action-packed, emotional send-off to the iconic character.
Get Carter – ITV4 – 10.25pm
Michael Caine in the legendary role of a dangerous criminal who returns home for his brother’s funeral, and to investigate the circumstances around his death.
Edge of Tomorrow – TCM – 11.05pm
Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt star in this fantastic action-sci-fi movie, as a pair of soldiers caught in a time-loop and try to use it to their advantage to defeat an invading alien invasion.
St. Vincent – Channel 4 – 12.55am
Bill Murray stars as the extremely cranky neighbour to single mom Melissa McCarthy, but when she is left without options, he agrees to babysit her young son, and the two slowly develop a lovely friendship.
