Music videos nowadays are highly crafted, expertly produced works of art that are almost short films and feature only the world’s most beautiful humans.
Irish music videos however, are even better. Even the shittily filmed low-budget and cringey dancing ones of the 90s. Those are actually legendary.
From U2 to Bewitched, there’s some absolute classics out there.
Here’s 12 of the ones we’ll be watching until the very end:
1. Samantha Mumba – Always Come Back To Your Love
I once tried to learn the entire dance routine in this and no, I’m not ashamed.
2. U2 – Sweetest Thing
What a classic. Dublin’s streets will also hold a place in our hearts.
3. Zig and Zag – Tijuana Gypsy Stole My Personal Stereo
Because obviously.
4. Boyzone – No Matter What
So much white, so many shaved eyebrows. A boyband triumph.
5. Lisa Hannigan – Knots
This is hands down one of the funnest videos we’ve ever seen. Pure joy.
6. Bewitched – C’est La Vie
A majestic masterpiece of all things denim and gals. And yes, I also learnt this dance.
7. Sinead O’Connor – Nothing Compares 2 U
One of the most iconic Irish music videos there is.
8. Bob Geldof and Dustin – Rat Trap
How could this not be included? Our nation’s love for that turkey is admirable.
9. A House – Endless Art
If Salvador Dali had made music videos this would be the trippy result.
10. Thin Lizzy – Sarah
This would make a stone cold lizard man shed tears. Beautiful.
11. Westlife – Uptown Girl
Those BOILER SUITS plz we cannot. A cringey delight.
12. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova – Falling Slowly
These scenes from Once get us every.single.time. <3
