Ireland’s love affair with the cinema is never ending, as the latest report from UNIC (Union Internationale des Cinémas) shows that Ireland has the highest joint cinema attendance in the EU.
The Irish tied with the French with an average of 3.3 cinema visits a year, a good increase on the European average of just 1.6 visits.
So what are we all watching in the cinema? Unfortunately, Irish-made movies accounted for just 3% of box office takings.
These five movies though, took the top spots:
- Bridget Jones’s Baby
- Finding Dory
- The Secret Life of Pets
- The Jungle Book
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
