Ticketmaster Says There’s ‘No Evidence’ Of Ticket Touting From Its Clients

Ticketmaster has said that there is no need for legislation against ticket touting, as just one per cent of tickets are resold.

In a submission to the Government, the company said there was “no evidence” that any of its clients were placing tickets on the resale market and claimed that the current call for legislation was based on a “media frenzy”.

The objection came as Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan tabled a bill that would see people charged up to €5,000 if they resell tickets for more than 10 per cent of the original price.

According to The Irish Independent, the proposals have been supporting by both Aiken Promotions and the GAA but both Ticketmaster and Seatwave have objected.
