If you grew up on the books and movies of Roddy Doyle then, well, shame on your parents. As Father Ted Crilly would say, normal people like us don't use that kind of language.
However, when you remove all the f-words, there's enough gas moments in the likes of The Snapper, The Van and The Commitments for the whole family and it has become an Irish custom to gather around the TV whenever any of the movies are shown.
Tonight, RTÉ will take an in-depth look at the man behind the Barrytown books as Roddy Doyle is interviewed in the first episode of a new series of The Works Presents.
The half-hour chat will see Doyle chat about his life and times and how his fiction has resonated with the Irish public over the years. It gets underway at 11.10pm on RTÉ 1 and you can get a sneak peak below. Maybe just make sure the kids are in bed.
