8 Things To Watch On Netflix Since It’s The Last Weekend Before Payday

James Fenton

It’s nearly the end of the month but we’re not quite there yet.

With empty wallets and that monthly pay cheque so agonisingly close, many of us will be reluctant to spend the weekend in the pub.

Luckily, there’s plenty on Netflix for us to binge in a dark room over some beans on toast.

Here our some of our favourites for this weekend.

1. Bojack Horseman

Everyone’s favourite self-loathing equine is back for series five. All the previous seasons are also there and if you haven’t seen any of it yet, you’re in for a treat. Give it one episode and you’ll be hooked.

2. Maniac

Mark McCabe’s nightclub classic is played on repeat for, lol, just kidding.

Superbad stars Jonah Hill and Emma Stone are reunited in this mind-bending dark comedy series. More information here.

3. Dark Tourist

Forget lounging on beach or walking tours. New Zealand journalist David Farrier travels the globe encountering the some of its darker attractions such as war zones and serial killer tours. More information here.

4. Bridget Jones’ Baby

Our heroine is back and finds herself pregnant at the age of 43. Expect another banging ‘sing into your hairbrush’ soundtrack.

5. Atypical

A coming-of-age comedy/drama which Sharon from your office won’t stop going on about. You might as well give in.

6. Sisters

An Aussie drama in which a woman’s dying father reveals that there is a lot more to her family than she thought.

7. Lessons From A School Shooting: Notes From Dunblane

Definitely not the cheeriest thing you could watch but an important documentary nonetheless.

Two priests, one from Dunblane in Scotland and another from Newtown (scene of the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre), share their first-hand experiences of school shootings.

And of course… Making A Murderer

The second season has been released just in time for the weekend.
