TV Pick – Monday Blues? ‘Trainwreck’ On RTÉ Tonight Should Cheer You Up

James Fenton

Monday getting the better of you already? Fear not as RTÉ has the perfect antidote tonight.

The Judd Apatow-directed romcom Trainwreck received mostly positive reviews upon its 2015 release with the critics consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reading ‘Trainwreck drags commitment out of all but the most rom-com-phobic filmgoers with sharp humor, relatable characters, and hilarious work from Amy Schumer.’

In it, Schumer stars as Amy, a magazine writer who lives by her father’s credo that monogamy is not realistic. Amy lives out this mantra through a promiscuous lifestyle until she is sent to interview Dr. Aaron Connors (Bill Hader).

As with most romcoms, it should come as no surprise that one thing leads to another, there are a couple of bumps in the road before everything is wrapped up in a neat little package.

The movie is dotted with hilarious quotes and it’s Schumer that we have to thank because she wrote the script. Alongside herself and Hader there are also appearances from the likes of John Cena, Daniel Radcliffe and Brie Larson and LeBron James and overall Trainwreck is very much worth two hours of your time.

Catch it tonight on RTÉ 2 at 9pm and get a taster of what’s in store in trailer below.
