If you’re looking for a powerful movie to watch this Easter Saturday night then look no further than RTÉ 2.
The channel will be showing 12 Years A Slave, the movie which took home the 2013 Oscar for Best Picture. The film is based on Soloman Northup’s 1853 memoir of the same name and follows his experiences as a slave in 19th century New Orleans.
While it is at times a harrowing watch, 12 Years A Slave is widely regarded as one of the best and most important movies of the decade. It stars Chiwetel Ejiofor in the leading role along with Michael Fassbender, Lupita Nyong’o, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sarah Paulson and Brad Pitt.
The Steve McQueen-directed film gets underway on RTÉ 2 tonight at 9.10pm.
