Move over, David Attenborough. There’s a new nature show in town.
Equator From The Air is just the type of television animal lovers dream of and as you can tell from the title, there’s an unusual element to this one.
Using helicopters, light aircraft, drones and satellite sensing, filmmaker Gordon Buchanan will explore habitats around the equator from the sky. The four-episode show will examine the environmental challenges facing the animals that live in these environments and the results are bound to be fascinating.
Tonight’s first episode will come from Africa, where equatorial wildlife competes for space with a fast-growing human population. Viewers will see a satellite health-check on a humpback whale and you can see it all unfold on BBC Two at 8pm.
